Our needs are ever-changing and always growing here at the Shelter. All gifts, no matter how big or small, are significant to us. The most direct way to help forward our mission and ensure we can always be here to give hope to kids in crisis is through financial contributions. The Gwinnett Children’s Shelter is a licensed 501(c)3 which makes all donations to the Shelter 100% tax deductible. Whether your heart is tugging to give to a specific initiative or general operational support, we offer you many different ways to give!

Many companies support us through special event sponsorships, awarding of corporate grants, donating products and services in-kind, as well as providing volunteers and supplies for on-site service projects.
Foundation Grants & Scholarships
The Shelter has been grateful to receive numerous private foundation grants to support capital campaigns and operational needs through the years. Some of these resources have also enabled educational scholarships and helped provide basic necessities for our residents like clothing, bedding, personal toiletries and school supplies. Others have provided resources for residents to attend camps, leadership conferences, and participate in extracurricular activities.
Special Events & Benefits
Maybe you’d consider hosting a special event that benefits the Shelter. Through the years we’ve had groups host charity walks, road races, galas, silent auctions, tours of homes, bake sales, tennis and golf tournaments, comedy nights, and more. Be creative! The more people you can help us touch to educate about the Shelter and the needs of teens, the more hope we can give together.
Investment & Planned Giving
Some donors have assets in the form of investments and insurance and others want to give to the shelter as part of their estate planning. We have a team of experts that can help you explore all of the options available and guide you through the steps necessary to make such gifts a reality. These gifts often offer you great tax advantages while in turn offer the shelter an endowment of sorts that ensures long-term stability.
We get hundreds of inquiries each month from people offering in-kind donations to help meet our most current needs and they are so vital to our operations. We keep a ready-made wish list handy to help you know what items we need most at any given time.
We make a big deal over birthdays here at the Shelter. Our residents need to know that they have a special purpose in this world and that life is worth living. Birthdays often symbolize for them new beginnings and offer promise for better tomorrows. Birthday Buddies make a commitment to help us ensure every child at the Shelter has a birthday party of sorts with decorations, cake, cards and gifts. Whether you’re a family looking to ‘adopt’ a single child, or a corporate division wanting to own a whole month of birthdays, we’ll cultivate a partnership that works just for you.
One of the toughest times of year for our kids to be without a “home” is during the holidays. Holiday Helpers bring comfort and joy to our kids during the holidays, ensuring that everyone has something just for them under the tree. There are three key ways to be a Holiday Helper:
Sponsor a Child – Provide gifts for them off their individual wish list.
Sponsor the Shelter – Provide 34 of the same item(s) so that all of the children at the shelter get one.
Sponsor an Angel Tree – Companies and community organizations love to have a holiday “angel tree” where kids’ wishes are hung on the tree and employees/members can come by and select one to fulfill.
