Thank You Letter From A Former Resident

Recently a former resident left the staff of the Gwinnett Children's Shelter the following thank you letter:

I know you don't get this often, but I would like to say THANK YOU.  I truly appreciate and am grateful for all you guys and gals have done for me.  Even the little things like keeping the water fountain clean and keeping some warm/cool air flowing.  I had a lot of fun here.  Thank you Ms. Pauline and Boys Wing staff for being here for us day to day, making sure we get what we need and making sure we have a good time while we're here.  Thanks Ms. Tyronda and Mr. Eric and all other classroom staff for being here making sure we have something fun and beneficial to do while we sit long hours in those classrooms.  Thanks to all kitchen staff for cooking great meals and for going out of your way so that I can have something on those beef and pork days.  And last but not least thanks to Mr. B and all head people (people in the front and counselors) for being such a great support system for us here at the shelter.  Thanks for all the great counselors, you all were so great, wonderful and all those good things.

Thank you all together for running such a wonderful program.  I will really miss you guys and in the future my success story will have all of you in!  Thanks A Lot!!

Motorola's 2nd Annual Global Day of Service

On October 10th 102 Motorola employees took a half day off work to help the Gwinnett Children's Shelter.  The volunteers painted, freshened landscaping and spruced things up!  Please click here to read more about the wonderful assistance provided by the employees of MOTOROLA!  Thank you for all of your hard work!

In addition to all the manual labor, Motorola donated over 30 two-way radios for agency use in working with our kids.  These radios make the day-to-day operations run more smoothly and will provide an invaluable service to us in the event of an emergency.  Thank you again!

Did you know that hundreds of children in Gwinnett are abused, neglected and abandoned by their families every year?  And did you know that for these youth in crisis, Gwinnett has a premiere provider of emergency stabilization, assessment, counseling and shelter care?

That place is the Gwinnett Children's Shelter, where HOPE lives.

The Gwinnett Children's Shelter is a private, non-profit, 501(c) (3) agency that  grew out of a volunteer effort involving the PTA, business and community leaders and countless individuals who became aware of the growing need for services for the abused and abandoned children of Gwinnett County.  Planning and development began in 1986 and the first child was served in the fall of 1987.

Currently, the Gwinnett Children's Shelter serves 300-500 children and their families every year.
